The Sprinter Project

Well we did it.  After all the years of talk, we have finally purchased our dream vehicle.  Or should I say, it currently holds the "Name" of our dream vehicle Mercedes Dodge Sprinter!  Looks wise.......not quite what we were dreaming of.  But the dream is still there, and we're going to give it LIFE!

Here is what we purchased:

You probably think we're crazy! But if you've ever met Scott, well then, you know this guy can do anything, and if he doesn't he sure will figure it out.

So Welcome to the Sprinter Project.  Here is what it requires to Bring it to Life:

After our research and budgeting, this is what we THINK it will cost, but follow along to see how and what we can do it for.

  • Rust Repair & Paint: $6,000 ($2,000 over what we were budgeting....ouch)

    • Front Driver: $470
    • Front Passenger: $555

    ______________________________________________
    Total: $14,230 give or take...

As you can see in the photos there was a Partition, Window, and also a Ladder Rack that we can sell, and hopefully get $450 total for all of them.

Our budget WAS $12,500, but due to the rust/pain job, it had to go up, so we are hoping all of our research on how much things cost will be fairly close to what we thought. (fingers crossed, tight!)

If possible, and we can make some of these things cost less, we would also like to get:
    • Awning: $1000
    • Heater: $1000
    • New Steering Wheel: $170

----- But it is looking like these will have to be in our future one day.

Oh and did we tell you??? We picked this baby up for $4,500!!  Yes you're reading that right, FORTY FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS.  If you're not in the market of Sprinters, well then let me tell you. An '08 with 139,000 miles still appraises for $18,000.00.  Which doesn't even include building it into a camper van!  So if we do things right, we will have this Sprinter built out for less than you can purchase one straight out.  CAMPER VAN COMING OUR WAY.

As you see, we're going to be completely honest with prices.  We've been searching for a blog that gave us specifics on what things cost, but have yet to find one, so we hope this helps someone else who is building out their camper van of sorts!  Again follow along to see how and what we can do it for.
